Welcome to the Educational Technology Wiki Textbook project
THIS PROJECT HAS MOVED AND IS BEING DEVELOPED ELSEWHERE. THE ADDRESS WILL BE ANNOUNCED WHEN IT IS READY FOR THE FIRST DRAFT TO BE SEEN. (late fall, 2008)
This Ed Tech Wikitext is a Wikimedia project, set up on February 2, 2006 as an idea by Sean Lancaster. This project is starting as an initiative to write a wiki textbook for an undergraduate educational technology course for future teachers. When this project reaches fruition then the content of this site will also be donated to the Wikibooks project.
Here is the Introduction and Table of Contents page. One "chapter" of the wikitext is being developed currently.
While there are likely other efforts aimed at developing an Ed Tech wiki textbook, this particular project is directed at fulfilling the needs of ED 205 at Grand Valley State University. The GVSU undergraduate TE curriculum largely follows the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) -- Curriculum and Content Area Standards, which are more commonly known as the National Educational Technology Standards for teachers (NETS-T). The State of Michigan 7th Standard (Seventh Standard on this site) will also be a key driving force behind the content in this textbook. Fortunately, NETS-T and the 7th Standard are very closely aligned. With these standards in mind, anyone is welcome to create a free account and join the writing team; though Sean Lancaster reserves the right to remove individuals who are counterproductive to the effort. This project also needs folks who can write help pages and other miscellaneous pages.
If you want to test out using a wiki, try using this site's Sandbox.
I have started a project To Do page where I hope to create more of a project timeline and blueprint in the future.
Please feel free to discuss this project (the big picture) by clicking on the Discussion tab above. A healthy discussion is quite welcomed. You can click on the Discussion tab above any page. Each Discussion tab leads to a different discussion, however.
